Build no. 178
For Sale after 2 years ownership. Originally based in Cardiff where the previous owner allowed the boat to become green, delapidated and unloved, I bought her Jan 24 and sailed her to Plymouth where she resides on a trot mooring near Mayflower Marina. I have done a reasonable amount of work on her to bring her back to life and have sailed over 1000 miles pretty much single-handed. I have found that elusive bigger boat, which was always the plan.
I bought Tee-Kay after owning a Drascombe Lugger for 15 years. She was very much my introduction to yacht owning and it has been brilliant. These delightful boats offer all that you want in a small yacht but with the equipment of a bigger one and importantly nothing like the cost. So if it is cheap cruising you are seeking then this is it.

This was the first boat of it's size that I could (nearly) stand up in. Headroom is 5ft 8inches.
Sleeps 6 according to all you will read, but the reality is you can sleep 4 adults and possibly 2 small children. Quarter berth, large enough for 2 adults, single saloon berths for 2 adults and Breton berth for a short person or 2 children.
Seawater flush manual toilet in it's own space with a folding screen style door. Sink with overboard drain, but not tap.
Plastimo gimbled gas oven, with 2 rings and grill. Probably not original.
Table with folding leaves and choice of tall stainless pole (taller) or original painted (shorter)
Cushions for all berths
50 litre FW tank under quarter berth - replaced in Nov 24
GRP. Tee-Kay has through hulls for log, sounder, heads and both sinks.
Transom hung rudder - complete osmosis treatment conducted Winter 24/25.
Tiller rebuilt from scratch and replaced Jan 26
Gas Locker - separate in engine locker
Fuel stowage and tank - engine locker
Last anti-fouled March 25 during first winter ashore in recent history - in good state
Bilge Keels completely stripped back to bare metal on the inboard sides, bottom and some of the outboard side except area in the middle which didn't need any attention, Fertan'd, then 5 coats of Hempel Light Primer and anti-foul. Still in great condition as you can see from the recent photos taken when the boat was drying out. There is NO rust showing through at all.
Topsides polished Mar 25
Kedge Anchor with chain 5m and rope
Battery charger
Shore Power cable - Tee-Kay has a shore power connection in the engine locker which gives power to 3 domestic style 240v double gang sockets
New (Feb 24) 80ah leisure battery in parallel with older leisure battery of similar size - 2 are not really needed but I like to take a small fridge/cooler with me which draws 4 amps!
Electronic shunt fitted 2025 to monitor battery health
Main CQR style anchor with 12m 10mm chain and 45m rope
Spray Hood frame - purchased by me as previous was removed and sold by previous owner
Sail Cover - adequate and intact, but old.
Built in cool box in sink area.
Ensign Staff
Cutlery set
Spare Whale water tap - pump type
None fitted. There is what seems to be a GPS aerial with the wiring intact. I use a tablet and a phone.
A VHF radio was fitted and wiring up the mast etc all still in place - removed and sold by previous owner. I use a hendheld.
Autopilot for the tiller which is a godsend solo sailing.
Radar reflector - not fitted, but can be tied to backstay when required - octahedral type
Mariner long shaft. Four Stroke 6hp. Fitted with lighting coil to charge onboard batteries. Serviced last year and used for 20 hours since then.
Mounted on a trolley (rebuilt by me Feb 24) that allows the engine to lift up out of the water when not in use. Remote control Morse style lever for gear change and throttle.
Fractional Bermudan Sloop - adjusted by backstay to put bend in the mast to improve performance or release on a run
Furling self tacking Jib (probably original but in good shape)(recent small repair)
3 Slab reefing Mainsail (probably original but in good shape), 2 reefing lines run to cockpit
Asymetric Spinnaker (known as a Scooper in the Hunter fraternity - (probably original) recently repaired)
Spinnaker Pole - purchased by me from Hunter owner. Pole uphaul fitted - previously absent.
It is understood but I cannot prove that the standing rigging was replaced in Penarth yard in 2019. Since, the rig has been tweaked by local firm in Plymouth and Nasa wind top fitting replaced at the same time.
2 x Single speed Lewmar winches stripped and rebuilt Mar 24
Line throwing bag
Telescopic Danbuoy
Boathook
Fire Blanket
Coastal Flare Pack good till '27
